PT Sriwajaya Bintang Tiga Energi (PT SBE) was developing a coal concession in the Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra and needed to assess the transport coal from its mines by using coal haul roads up to the coal jetty and then using barges down the Musi River in support of offshore transfer at anchorage. The river transportation infrastructure needed to include development of a coal jetty and mechanized loading facility near Lakitan and an intermediate stockpiling, jetty, including unloading and loading infrastructure downstream in the Musi River. Both of the jetties were intended to be developed in phases to achieve a throughput capacity of 7.5 mtpa.


Services Provided: selection of the location for a jetty at Lakitan; selection of the location for an intermediate jetty for unloading and transfer; feasibility of loading barges up to 60m LOA by jetty on the Lakitan River (near Muara Lakitan); feasibility of using an intermediate jetty for coal unloading from 60m LOA barges and reloading 100m LOA barges for use in the offshore anchorage.
