Indonesia port costs are often considered opaque. DWA were appointed by a port investor to review the tariff structure and levels at ports in Indonesia. The aim of the work was to understand the actual costs to ships and shippers of operating into and out of Indonesian ports. Assessments of port costs for a wide range ship types and sizes were prepared including container, break bulk and bulk ships. The costs assessed were then cross checked with users and operators across Indonesia. Having established the actual costs rates based on more normal international tariff structure were back calculated.
